The blog of the Society for U.S. Intellectual History is featuring a series of posts in honor of the fiftieth anniversary of Star Trek. Mine went up today. Called "A Relativist Utopia?: The Politics of Star Trek: The Next Generation," it concerns TNG and its relationship to the liberal politics of the period in which it was made. The post is basically a sequel to "Liberals in Space." (It was originally intended as an article, one that I abandoned when academia abandoned me. So just be aware that it's a bit long for a blog post.) Check it out here.
